lazytown

A Utopia left to the imagination of the individual should always vary seeing as everyone’s view of immaculacy is different. The probability of one such urban and political creation is highly unlikely. Even if one very determined individual might succeed in the construction and legislation of their world, the citizens, assuming they are all human, will eventually come to acknowledge their free will. That much is inevitable. So, in all likelihood the consideration of a personal utopia is merely hypothetical.
If unlimited space was a possible component of my Utopia, then a wide variety of people and ideologies would be included, but regulated carefully so as not to throw off the cultural equilibrium. Diversity being the focal point of this Utopia will obviously welcome people of any gender or race.

The Utopia would prosper under an oligarchy or counsel of elected representatives of most every community within the populous. The public of every cultural sector will be heard and these opinions will be taken into account during counsel meetings, this way political decisions will be made in the best interest of the people as a whole.

The absence of wars (not to be confused with absence of competition) will encourage intellect to veer towards self-progression and creativity instead of military tactic. Any disputes will be settled diplomatically with the power of reasoning. The laws of this utopia will essentially prohibit crime i.e. murder and theft.

There will be no fixed source of currency, this will be an attempt to evade any manipulation of money which has led to various economic breakdowns in the past and present (also taxes pose a whole other set of problems). Instead this utopia will rely partially on a barter trade system, and a system of favors. Ex: the architect builds you a house and this could be the equivalent of 10 favors.) These “favors” of course cannot conflict with any laws of the Utopia.

Ideally, houses will be built to suit every family’s needs, their homes will accommodate comfort, luxury, and convenience with room left to add personal style in the design and décor. Using both the barter system and system of favors, building materials will be traded and supplied by the numerous industries established by every community. Education and health care would be free of any currency or barter trade, in eliminating the cash factor, teachers and doctors would not need to be paid since they have already been given their natural necessities and more. Education will be taught based on cultural status and supplied by that designated community. There will also be leniency with any community transfers. The urban design will be constructed to suit the environment; consequently the environments exterior won’t be tampered with. Unfortunately in order for the citizens to live in luxury the environment will as usual have to be exploited to some degree.

For transportation, vehicles will be powered by any waste (garbage) created, this will contribute somewhat to the protection of the environment.

Any entertainment in the real world will be included in this utopia as well.

As I stated earlier, the sustainment of any utopia is practically impossible because in the end no one can really do what they are told (with the exception of North Korea, although that can hardly be called a utopia), and a Utopia such as this one probably would not be able to withstand the conflicting cultures and ideologies, one form of society would have to dominate somehow through acts of belligerence and war. This has been proven time and again throughout history. Another flaw, in education and health care, if the professionals of either department should feel compelled to stop showing up for work, they would suffer no consequence since they would be supported fully from all economical standpoints. So people as always will eventually come to quench their satisfaction, whether that be a thirst for dominance or an answer to laziness, people inevitably become self-serving. Utopias are all in the mind.
